Hello Folks

I am very happy to announce that I have been working hard on a new album called “Tomorrow, then” which is now finished and will be released in February 2015. You can listen and download an exclusive FREE track called “Hand on my Heart” from here

This single features the backing vocals of Sarah from Paper Aeroplanes, a band well worth checking out. Please feel free to share the download on various social networks should you want to. The album was recorded live to tape (YES!) by Phill Brown (Talk Talk, John Martyn, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley etc.) and also features the great musical skills of John Parker on double bass and Martyn Barker on drums. I am very proud of the album and excited to finally share it with you. I feel lucky to have worked with the very talented people who have been involved. I will be doing some touring to promote the album in the new year, and I hope to see you at some of the shows.

Just got back from the Scandinavian tour and had an amazing time. 2,748 miles in 12 days according to Google maps, yikes!

Sweden and Norway are both beautiful, scenic countries with lovely people and I feel lucky to have been able to tour around playing my music there. There are too many events for me to process right now but huge thanks to Ola Borglin of Daylight Booking for getting the ball rolling and organising the tour for me. It also wouldn’t have been the same without the House of Trees, a great band who were kind enough to put up with me talking crap in the back of their car for most of the tour, and let me tag along to some of their gigs. Definitely go and check them out live if you get the chance, they won’t disappoint.

Highlight gigs for me were the totally unplugged and magical Earth Hour gig at Fotografiska which I highly recommend visiting. It’s sort of like a Tate Modern for photos in Stockholm. I really liked the Peace and Love Café in Borlange as well, great vibe and some hilarious characters and good people. It was always a pleasure to hear the House Trees when we gigged together. Acoustic Sunday at Pir6 in Kristiansand was a fantastic gig to end the tour with. A lovely if unnervingly quiet audience. There were some excellent acts that played the same night as well, damn that place has some good musicians!

I met lots of new friends, great musicians and people in Scandinavia, too numerous to mention here. All of the audiences were fantastic, but this tour would have been very different without the genuine kindness of all the people I met. People who alongside coming to shows, looked after me, fed me and put me up in their homes sometimes without even knowing me.  This is something I am eternally grateful for and I hope I can return the favour someday, perhaps I already have in my own way. Feeling truly blessed and humbled. Goodbye Scandinavia and thanks, it’s been a riot.

Greetings , it’s been a while . Facebook is where most of the updates happen these days, so my apologies for neglecting this blog. Contrary to popular belief, I have been hard at work this year and there are exciting things in the pipeline. I have been working on a new album which I am looking forward to sharing with you . It has been recorded by the amazing talent that is Phill Brown. I feel very privilged to work with someone who has recorded so many great artists in his time. Certainly not least of all, Phill is responsible for recording and mixing Spirit of Eden by Talk Talk which has been one of the most important albums in my life. I had the great pleasure to work with the excellent musicians John Parker (double bass) and Martyn Barker (drums) as well, and we recorded everything live to tape. The way it should be…

The album will be coming out later this year and I am very excited about it. I hope you find as much to love in it as I have put into it. To coincide with the album’s release I am also really pleased to announce that I will be doing a Scandanavian tour in March and April this year. Details of this are to follow shortly.

Last month I had the great pleasure of playing at the Beautiful Days festival as part of the prize from winning the Acoustic Magazine competition to find the UKs best  Singer-Songwriter. No pressure then…

To be honest I’m not too sure about competition in music as one person’s apples are another’s oranges but I was grateful for the opportunity to play at Beautiful Days. There were also some great prizes including a  posh microphone (DPA) and an Alvarez guitar (more of that later).

I had an amazing time down in Exeter playing the gig with Fiddes Smith on mandolin and Mark Strains on double bass and I hope to get back to this excellent festival sometime.

Apart from playing, festival highlights for me were Seth Lakeman who was headlining on our stage and played a blinder and  also comedy/theatre act “La Navet Bete Napoleon a Defence” who were genius. Festival lowlights were me falling arse over tit in the mud, had to happen to someone.
